<p class="Paragraph">If you save the current document with <span class="T1">File - Save</span> or (Ctrl)(S), under the path and file name from which you opened it, the old version will be overwritten by the new version. If the <span class="T1">Always create backup copy</span> check box is marked, the old version is first copied to the backup directory.</p>

You can change it in the <span class="T1">Tools - Options - <help:productname xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help">%PRODUCTNAME</help:productname> - Paths</span> dialog in the "backup" entry.</p>

<p class="P3">The copy has the same name as the document, but the extension is .BAK. If the backup folder already contains such a file, it will be overwritten without warning!</p>

<p class="P4">Mark <span class="T1">AutoSave every</span> and select the time interval in the spin button.</p>

<p class="P4">Mark <span class="T1">Prompt to save</span> if you want to be asked prior to automatic saving whether or not you want to save the document.</p>

<p class="Paragraph">This command saves the current document as if you pressed Ctrl+S, for example. If the document was saved previously, the old version will be overwritten by the current version.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">If you mark both check boxes <span class="T1">Always create backup copy</span> and <span class="T1"><text:s text:c="" xmlns:text="http://openoffice.org/2000/text"/>AutoSave every </span>, the file will be overwritten every n minutes. At the same time, the backup copy will be replaced by the last version.</p>
